Title/Roles

This is a game I developed alone using the pico-8 engine. All art, programming, sound effects and design was completed by me.

The game was entirely created in the pico-8 engine. 

Description

Bone-Head is a fast paced retro platformer with a soundtrack to match. I challenged myself to work on scoping, to make a game that I was satisfied with while keeping the scope low and easy to manage. The limitations of pico-8 also challenged my ability to design something fun and unique with the limitations of the engine. The bare bones tools in pico-8 helped teach me some aspects of design but also with the sound design and music.

Take Aways

This project was monumental for my project and scope management skills. Prior to this project I often struggled with fitting my ideas in small enough packages to manage. This project required me to make things smaller because of the engine's limitations, this really helped me find new ways to fit ideas into the least bloated forms possible. The sound design in this game had to be done with simple synthesizers in a classic style tracker, this bare bones system taught me how to make the most out of the tools given.
